Goals

  I.            Eliminate success gaps for at risk students by 2025

 

 Strategy One:  Create a guided pathway for at-risk students.

Tactic 1: Disaggregate the data to identify the students.

Tactic 2: Develop a mentorship program for students from underserved populations.

Tactic 3: Refine Starfish intake questions to help with predictive analytics to identify potential at-risk students.

Strategy Two: Eliminate retention gaps for Pell eligible students by July 1st 2025.

Tactic 1: Expand recruitment of students to increase access to college.

Tactic 2: Expand access to dual enrollment by using multiple measures and re-testing.

Tactic 3: Create a cohort for each targeted population (Pell eligible and African American) and establish a case

management strategy to provide support, engagement, and to create a sense of belonging for students.

Tactic 4: Refine Starfish intake questions to help with predictive analytics to identify potential at-risk students.

Strategy Three:  Eliminate 3rd year graduation gaps for African American students by 2025.

Tactic 1: Increase Campus Engagement Opportunities that are inclusive and culturally responsive.

Tactic 2: Increase faculty/staff support for student clubs and campus events

Tactic 3: Invite faculty to give talks or lead activities on campus designed to support strategic social justice goals.

 

 

II.         Create a campus community that embraces equity, inclusion and                    social justice

                       Strategy One:  Utilize CCSSE & SENSE data to encourage engagement with student support services and campus                                             involvement.

                       Tactic 1: Increase faculty/staff support for student clubs and campus events

                       Tactic 2: Invite faculty to give talks or lead activities on campus

                       Strategy Two:  Infuse the curriculum with inclusive materials and learning opportunities.

                       Tactic 1: Provide faculty development on how to infuse courses with content/curriculum that presents perspectives                                  from other cultures.

                       Tactic 2: Provide a statement on equity on the master syllabus.

                       Tactic 3: Develop a peer-to-peer mentor program.

                       Strategy Three: Review, amend or create college policies to reflect a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

                       Tactic 1: Create a sub-committee from the Equity team to conduct the audit

                       Tactic 2: Audit institutional policies to identify systems that do not fully support equity and inclusion.

                       Tactic 3: Conduct a resource audit, to evaluate and adjust resources that Cleveland State made available to students                                 who are affected by gaps.

                      Strategy Four: Double the number of non-white employees by 2025.

                      Tactic 1: Develop an inclusive hiring guide

                      Tactic 2: Review job descriptions through an equity lens

                       Tactic 3: Provide training on equity-based hiring practices

                       Tactic 4: Intentionally target universities with diverse populations for faculty positions.

                       Tactic 5: Intentionally advertise openings through media outlets that connect with larger numbers of African                                                 Americans and Latinx.
